Avika Viswanathan [8D] was selected for TEAM MAHARASHTRA in the IDL × IIT Delhi DebSoc × Burlington English Debating competition after getting an average speaker score of 9.8/10. The team went on to participate in the finals at IIT Delhi. They came FIRST out of all 29 states. Avika has now been selected for the ISDS NATIONAL CAMP for TEAM INDIA.

  • Stood 3rd in the Republic Day Forensics, organised by the Indian Debating League at IIT Madras, in the category 'Original Oratory'. She won a bronze medal and a certificate. She participated in the qualifiers on the 13th of January, with more than 200+ students participating across India and went on to the finals on the 26th of January at IIT Madras.

Saina Chakrabarti [9A] and Vivaan Chakrabarti [9E] have started PAUDHA, a student-led platform that focuses on empowering student creativity and social initiative. The following 2 initiates were taken up:

  • Compassionate Diwali – Both students worked together to raise an amount of INR 25,000 by selling home baked goodies while handling the sales promotion via social media through which they raised INR 16,000. 300 goodie boxes were distributed to 3 orphanages and street children in Mumbai.
  • Pedal in Christmas – INR 25,000 was raised to buy cycles for tribal girls to ease their daily travel to school and back. Through the sale of Santa cookies, Christmas balls, cakes and brownies, both students were successful in collecting INR 30,000. They plan to take this initiative ahead in the near future.

She won FIRST place in singing a French song in the presence of the Consul General of France, Mr. Jean Marc Sere Charlet.

Rhea D'Costa [9C] has been awarded the Second Runner-Up Certificate of Honour and Medal of Excellent Wisdom in the India Quiz - My India, My Pride Finale - a quiz celebrating the diverse traditions, cultural heritage, scientific achievements and famous personalities of India. She scored 94% and was among the Top 80% Finalists.

The Bombay Scottish Debate team consisting of Avika Viswanathan [9D], Avishka Bhor [9A] and Rhea D’Costa [9C] came 2 nd in the prestigious Frankenstein Debating Tournament conducted by the Indian Debating League in association with the IIT Debate Society held at IIT Delhi on 31 st March, 2024. They were the youngest and only all-girls team in the Senior category and their performance was much appreciated by the judges.

Riddhima Singh [9D] exhibited her canvas painting, named 'Reflections' which was showcased at the 'Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery' - one of the prestigious art galleries in Mumbai. The event showcased for the first time ever, an only Childrens exhibition of art works and canvases. The event was inaugurated by Padmashree - Dr. Soma Ghosh and celebrated Artists.

Rayaan Naveed Siddiqui [9D] won the Spellmasters of India competition - The most prestigious spelling bee in India. He has been awarded a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 and a trip to Disneyland Hongkong along with a certificate and medal. The show was aired on Disney Channel Hungama and Super Hungama. He has been featured in the Times of India newspaper as well.

Febin Nadar [9E] participated in the Social Conclave organised by the NMIMS, as part of a team of three. Their topic was ‘Social Media and Mental Health’. They were required to generate a report based on research and field work. They stood First in their category.

Anika Joseph [12B] has written a story (Merchant of Vetaverse, an Indian adaptation of Merchant of Venice) which was published in the Wise Owl, an online magazine. Created TWO SGFI National Records in swimming, securing 4 Gold medals in under-14 girls in the 67th National School Games held from 3rd to 6th January 2024:

  • Gold medal in 200m Individual Medley with new National Games record, showcasing all round supremacy in all the four strokes.
  • Gold medal in 50m Breaststroke with new National Games record
  • Gold medal in 100m Breaststroke
  • Gold medal in 4x100m Medley Relay, team Gold for CISCE

She emerged the Youngest Swimmer Pan India representing Maharashtra State at 6th Khelo India Youth Games at Chennai and also at 39th Junior Nationals at Bhubaneshwar.

She was the ONLY 12 year old swimmer with a podium finish at the Khelo Games in the women’s category.

She was recognized as the rising talent of Maharashtra and Fastest breaststroker in Maharashtra state.

At the 6th Khelo India Youth Games at Chennai 26th to 31st January, 2024: Saanvi Deshwal post her selection from Maharashtra state:

  • Won Silver medal in 200m Individual Medley at the games in women category.
  • Won Silver medal in 4x100m Medley relay, selected as the fastest breaststroker in Maharashtra.

At the MSSA Aquatics at Mumbai between 2nd and 3rd November 2023: Saanvi Deshwal was awarded Individual Champion in Under 14 girls category after she won the following:

Saanvi was selected to represent CISCE at SGFI Nationals in all three events and also for the medley relay team of CISCE.

At the 18th CISCE Regional Swimming Championship:
During 18th CISCE Regional Interschool Swimming Championship 2023, Saanvi Deshwal was awarded “Best Swimmer” in Under 14 Girls category with three new meet records created by her.

  • 50m Breast: won Gold medal. Old record created in 2013 by her school alumni student (Aditi Nazre) in 50m Breast stroke was rewritten by Saanvi.
  • 100m Breaststroke: Gold medal with new record.
  • 200m Individual medley: Gold medal with new record.
Basketball

As part of the School Basketball team, Saanvi Deshwal played CISCE Zonals at St. Gregorios School on 28th and 29th August 2023. The team won third place.

She was also selected for Selection Trials for the National Basketball Tournament Girls U14 which was held at the Bishop’s Co-ed School, Undri, Pune on 12th October 2023.

Elocution

  • At the Sam Berklee Elocution Competition organised by the YMCA, Kaisha Kapoor won 2nd place and Avishka Bhor won 3rd place.
  • In the Indian Red Cross Society English Elocution Competition, Kaveesh Mitra and Vritika Shah won 2nd position in their respective categories.

Debate

  • At the Paris World School Debate Championship which was held online in September, Dania Khan won 13th Best Speaker out of 300 speakers. She has also been selected for the Indian Schools Debating Society [Programmes] - National Camp.
  • In an International Debate Competition called Transpacific World Schools Debating Championship, the best teams from all over the world like the Korean National Team and the Singapore National Team participated. Dania Khan was adjudged the Best Novice Speaker. She also won the 2nd Best Speaker under 4 and Under 16 years from among 200 plus speakers.

French Day Celebrations

At the French Day Celebrations held at Apostolic Carmel High School, Bandra, our students won the following:

At the Furtados Inter-School Band-It Festival 2023, Arnav Anukumar won the ‘Winner’ award in the Solo Singing category. There were 50 finalists out of 360 participants across western region (Mumbai, Goa & Gujarat) who participated from different schools including the International schools.

The All Bombay Inter-School Band-It Competition, ‘The Ones’, our school band comprising Rehan Press, Giselle Qureshi, Nia D’Souza, Parhaan Khanna, Raphael Dsouza came 1st in the Regional finale under Band category 2023. They have been participating for the last six years and have won four times. They have now been selected for the All-India National Finale.


Online Coding Competition

At CATH CON - an online coding competition organised by the Cathedral and John Connon School, Aarav Malani stood 1st in the Senior category and Avighna Chhatrapati stood 3rd in the Junior category. There were 250+ participants from all over India in both categories. Aarav and Avighna will be receiving cash prizes of INR 5000 and INR 2000 respectively.


The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition

The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition is an annual international writing competition for young writers from Commonwealth countries. It is organized by the Royal Commonwealth Society and has around 30,000+ participants. Sharanya Sudarshan won the Bronze Award in the senior category for her piece titled - "The Afghan Apple Orchards”.


Aditya Birla World Academy

At The Happy Place, Aditya Birla World Academy, our students bagged the following prizes:

Speech and Debate

In the Mumbai Speech and Debate League held at IIT Bombay, Rhea D’Costa was the semi-finalist and came 6th out of 300+ speakers across Mumbai in the qualifiers. She also participated in the Indo-Pacific Debate, a debate across 40 Asian teams.


Hindustan Olympiad

Ayaansh Salgia, emerged victorious in the Hindustan Olympiad (identified as one of the world’s biggest Olympiads) held in Mumbai in April. The Olympiad reveals the competence levels in all major subjects. The young prodigy outshone thousands of competitors to win the Olympiad. He was awarded a trophy, certificate and a cheque of Rs.5,000/-.

  • Armaan Jetha was the youngest competitor in the DUSK TO DAWN - India’s first ultra Swimathon event which was held on 9th and 10th of September. He won 1st place overall. He broke the existing record of the 12-hour solo swim by more than 6 km as he covered a distance of 36.8 km.

Camrynn Fernandes

  • Camrynn Fernandes was selected for the WIFA Maharashtra Sub Juniors Girls Team and represented the State in the AIFF Sub Juniors Hero National Football Championship 2023-24 in Amritsar in September 2023. She was also named vice-captain for the team.

Anosh Adhikari

  • Anosh Adhikari has secured a silver medal in the DSO Air Rifle Open Sight Match in the U19 category at the Mumbai DSO Inter-school Shooting Championship which took place in September 2023.

  • Agastya Bansal stood 2nd in the Matunga Gymkhana Junior Open Squash Championship 2023 at Mumbai. It was a National Level tournament organised by SRFI in August 2023.

Roller Skating Marathon

  • Shivani Iyer participated in the Amritkaal Independence Day Roller Skating Marathon in an attempt to create a world record in 3 books for the most number of skaters performing for 5 hours at the same time in multiple venues all over India.

Vardaan Agrawal

  • Vardaan Agrawal stood first and got the Championship Trophy in Under 8 Category in the Elite Chess Championship at the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana. He scored 5 out of 5 points. He won all the 5 matches and was ahead of the runner up by a big margin. He defeated FIDE rated players in this tournament.

  • Anuriti Singh secured the 'Silver Medal' at Maharashtra State Sub-Junior Karate Championship 2023, in "Kumite' - Duel Fighting in the '10 Year Old Age; 30 kg' category. She now holds Rank 2 at State Level in her category.
